Journeyman Philosopher

Hello my name’s Nathan Hunt and I’m  a 25 year old philosophy student in Calgary Alberta, Canada. My hobbies rest in reading, gaming, writing, cinema, and martial arts. As well I freelance write on the side of my hobbies and school work, and am involved with a start up video game company Dreamgazers Interactive (www.dreamgazers.com).

Let’s get this out of the way first as I’m sure you’re all wondering ‘WHY PHILOSOPHY?!?!?’! Well my school life is a book worth of writing all in itself. Let’s just say, to simplify, I really didn’t enjoy High School. I initially dropped out and worked for a portion of my life in retail and service. After becoming classified as an ‘adult student’ I decided to take a swing at college, and fell in love with my education. I’ve always been of a philosophical nature and one of the crucial factors in me deciding philosophy derived from one of the teachings of the buddhist eight-fold path. ‘Right Livelihood’ simply is the teaching that you must lead a good life through work, play, and attitude. Well living the ‘good life’ is a vague concept at its best, as so I decided my priority should be to educate myself in a manner that made me more personable, intelligent, and compassionate. With this in mind philosophy was a great fit, and for the last four years I have been working away at my degree. 

I decided to start blogging as a means to express the little ideas and things that I either don’t have time to write an article about or aren’t interested enough in to do it. There are tons of little moments in life that I think about, as we all do, that recquire further examination. The unexamined life is not worth living Plato would say and I agree with that wholeheartedly. In my opinion either you do something for a reason or you have no reason to do it. The hard part is finding out that reason. 

This blog will cover many different topics ranging from philosophical inquiry, political and social commentary, relationship advice, and even entertainment reviews. I hope at the very minimum that it will be of interest to you as a reader while it allows me to analyze and critique my daily thoughts and beliefs.
